Sentiments are high during a celebration, especially during a birthday. The usual preparations of a birthday party starts months earlier. The invitation, event management, catering, birthday dress, dress for the parents and close relatives, thematic events and return gifts are the broad categories which enlist the preparation of a birthday party.
Recording milestones is a wonderful idea to keep track of the achievements of your child. Special diaries are available on the same and one could also casually mark it on a card paper alongwith photographs. During the celebration, one can put it up for display and win overwhelming admiration for the little one.
Decoration are more of balloons and festoons in various decorating ideas. Strips of coloured festoons are easy to remove with special adhesive available in the market. If the venue is your home courtyard and you intend to club it as a day function, then make appropriate arrangements for the clothing and occasional showers that are unpredictable.
Most important of all is the great task of invitation wordings. Jot down a few lines involving your spouse and make something very personal. Draw a little face or caricature of your lovely angel and write down the wordings ‘ It is a special day for me, please come’ or ‘All of us are waiting for you to come, there is food and games and lot of gifts too.’ If you wish to address the invite then, then use, ‘ This is an extremely proud moment for us as our (name of child) completes a year. Please come and join the celebration.’
In case there are theme happenings, the wordings go as such, ‘ Come as a poodle or a purry kitten and join the animal fun day at my birthday this Sunday.’ Formal theme indications can be done ‘Dress code – Red/Green’. In case you have a fancy dress competition then make sure to mention that it is a ‘competition’ so that the children’s excitement and efforts are highlighted.
If there are numerous fun activities additional words, enhancing the activity can be included. ‘ Get a tattoo of a butterfly, paint you own pottery, please come and make my day.’ In case you do not wish to receive gifts, then mention, ‘ Please do not bring any gifts as your presence is most important.’ Make it interesting with, ‘ Get you parents along and your favourite doll, as I have a doll house and a little farm for your animal toys’.
Indicate the venue, dress code and date and most of all the timing accurately. Address the cover with little thermocol stickers, a candy or a deflated balloon. Use glitter and fancy cartoon stickers. Use the baby’s thumbprint all along the card or the cover. This is to hint at the excitement that is sure to follow at the party.
